Copper Valley Telecom lights fiber broadband in off-the-grid Alaskan coastal village
Copper Valley Telecom (CVT) is leveraging support from the U.S. Department of Agriculture's (USDA) ReConnect Program to bring fiber internet access to the village of Tatitlek and surrounding communities in the dense forests and proximity to Prince William Sound. By replacing the microwave signal with subsea fiber, CVT's new infrastructure will significantly improve internet performance and reliability by raising network speeds from the current 25/3 Mbps service to a symmetrical 1 Gbps service. It will also support essential services, providing high-capacity connections to local schools, healthcare providers, and tribal government facilities.
