Centranet trials 50G PON with Oklahoma tribal nation
Centranet has demonstrated a 50 Gbps fiber internet connection for the Sac and Fox tribal nation in Oklahoma. Leveraging Nokia’s Lightspan MF fiber solution, this is the first live commercial trial of 50G PON technology in a tribal nation. Centranet can give current subscribers multi-gigabit speeds today and future 50G PON services needed for online education, telehealth, and digital services essential in the modern era.
Fidium Fiber brings a multi-gig speed internet network to the Lake Sunapee, NH area
Fidium Fiber has expanded its multi-gig speed internet network to more than 3,800 homes and businesses in Sunapee, Newbury and New London, N.H. Fidium representatives will soon visit the Lake Sunapee area to share more information about service options and availability. Today, over 250,000 New Hampshire homes and businesses have access to Fidium, with additional availability coming soon across the state.
Great Plains Communications wraps Kearney, Neb FTTH build
Great Plains Communications (GPC) has completed an upgrade of its Kearney, Nebraska, fiber network, supporting the ongoing rise in bandwidth demand. In 2021, the service provider acquired fiber assets in Kearney and surrounding Nebraska areas, including Grand Island and Lexington, along with fiber assets in the Colorado communities of Blackhawk and Central City through acquiring Kearney, Nebraska-based USA Communications. Since then, GPC has continued investing in and expanding the network to reach more homes and businesses with high-capacity fiber services.
Gateway Fiber cuts ribbon for Northampton, Mass fiber service
Gateway Fiber recently joined with civic leaders to celebrate the start of construction on its fiber network in Northampton, MA, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at City Council Chambers. The gathering was attended by Mayor Gina-Louise Sciarra, first Hampshire District State Representative Lindsay Sabadosa, and residents and business owners who learned about Gateway Fiber and its new network. It marked the first of several construction projects the internet provider is starting in western Massachusetts. Most recently, the company announced plans to build a network for residents and businesses in Gardner, MA. This fiber network will enable speeds of up to 2 Gbps. Gateway Fiber is hiring a local team to build the network and provide local customer service.
Lyte Fiber hatches fiber broadband plans for Texas and beyond
Lyte Fiber, a Houston-based company founded by FTTH industry veteran Carter Old and backed by digital infrastructure investment firm SDC Capital Partners, is set to expand fiber-based internet access to underserved Texas communities. It is launching its first fiber network buildouts in Texas and plans to expand outside the state. Supported by an XGS-PON access network that delivers up to 10 Gbps, Lyte will offer residential and business internet service plans tailored to different usage needs.
