Archtop Fiber kicks off the Woodstock, NY fiber build
Archtop Fiber has started building a fiber Internet network in Woodstock. With a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) in place with the Town of Woodstock, Archtop hopes to begin rolling out its service across the region by the end of October. The Internet provider’s multi-gig service currently offers symmetrical speeds up to 2 Gbps, up to 8 Gbps for residences and 10 Gbps for businesses coming soon. In a unique arrangement, Archtop is leasing space in the Woodstock Police Department to house some of its equipment. In exchange, Archtop will provide free Internet at town offices and a free public Wi-Fi hotspot.
Woodstock is one of several communities in Ulster County where Archtop Fiber has an MOU. The MOUs represent a commitment by all parties involved to work together in a joint effort to leverage public investment, including the $664 million BEAD allocation to New York, to expand Archtop’s private investment in a new fiber network beyond its current plans to reach unserved and underserved communities. Woodstock is the latest community to welcome Archtop as it rolls out its fiber network, built throughout the Northeast. Archtop has launched service in KingstonSaugertiesRhinebeck, and Warwick, New York, with Hudson and the City of Pittsfield, Massachusetts soon to follow.
