The broadband and optical industry witnessed shifts in management ranks with Air5 naming Raj Singh to its advisory board and Mediacom promoting Jack Griffin to CFO. 

Air5™ adds network and semiconductor veteran Raj Singh to its advisory board
AIR5™ appoints network, semiconductor, and enterprise platform veteran Raj Singh to its advisory board of wireless, cable, and finance industry leaders. A seasoned Silicon Valley technologist, entrepreneur, venture capitalist, and executive for multiple startups, Singh offers decades of experience bringing technology design, products, and companies, resulting in multibillion-dollar exits to Google, Cisco, and others. Singh will join the company’s group of renowned technologists and top executives from the finance, cable and wireless industries, including former C-level leaders from Cisco, Charter, Comcast, Motorola, Alphabet, Nest and AT&T.

Mediacom Communications promotes Jack Griffin to CFO
Mediacom Communications has promoted Jack Griffin to Chief Financial Officer. Griffin succeeds Mark Stephan, retiring after 28 years of distinguished service to Mediacom. Previously, Griffin served as Mediacom's Senior Vice President of Finance and Treasurer. As CFO, Griffin will oversee all of Mediacom’s corporate finance functions, including accounting, banking relationships, debt financing, external reporting, internal audit, liability and cash management, investments, mergers and acquisitions, and business development. He joined Mediacom in 2007 and has risen rapidly through the ranks of the Finance Department. Griffin received his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and MBA from SUNY Albany. Stephan will remain with the company through October 15th to ensure a smooth transition and continue to serve on Mediacom’s Board of Directors.

Dale Knipp joins Alaska Communications as SVP of business services
Alaska Communications has named Dale Knipp as senior vice president of business to drive growth and deliver on the company’s vision to be the provider of choice in Alaska. He will lead all business sales teams, including enterprise and wholesale, carrier and federal, opportunity management, managed IT services and SMB. Knipp is an experienced and outcome-driven business development leader with many years of telecom and technology experience. He has worked in various capacities with large telecoms, including Comcast, Verizon, Cox, Dish, and Charter. At Comcast, he led a team earning over $1.5 billion in total contract revenue. He earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Kansas, an MBA from the University of Phoenix, and an executive management certification from Carnegie Mellon University.

NCTC names Skroban and Thacker to lead the board
The National Content & Technology Cooperative (NCTC) has elected Comporium's VP of video strategy and programming, Karl Skroban, the new board chair, and David Thacker, TVS Cable's general manager, the new vice-chair. Elaine Partridge, VP of special projects at Vexus Fiber, will continue to serve on the Board of Directors as the immediate past chair for the remainder of her term. Brad Mefferd, Chief Administrative Officer at Buckeye Broadband, is transitioning off the board after serving for 12 years.

Race Communications names FTTH leaders Gleason and Zeitz to the board
Race has added two independent directors to its Board of Directors: Jim Gleason, CEO of Vexus Fiber and Harold Zeitz, CEO of Ziply Fiber. Gleason and Mr. Zeitz have led the expansion of their companies' FTTH networks to underserved markets in their respective regions. Race said it is, and we believe we are well-positioned as board members to support Race's accelerated growth in California.
