Gateway Fiber to light fiber broadband in Northampton, Massachusetts

April 11, 2024
Residents and businesses in Northampton will soon be able to access speeds up to 2 Gbps.

Gateway Fiber’s fiber-based internet service is coming to Northampton, Massachusetts, offering residents and businesses a new choice for even faster internet.

The provider’s Western Massachusetts expansion effort highlights its commitment to bringing next-generation internet access to underserved communities nationwide.

“It is an exciting moment for Northampton to have a new fiber provider making a substantial investment in our city,” said Representative Lindsay Sabadosa of Northampton. This investment will help lower costs, which is especially important for our lower-income residents and residents on fixed incomes, while also offering reliable internet service.”

Gateway Fiber’s expansion into Northampton aligns with the growing demand for high-speed internet access in western Massachusetts, where residents and businesses only had access to slower, outdated legacy networks such as cable and DSL.

The provider is opening an office and warehouse in the area this spring to support this vital expansion and solidify its commitment to the local community.

Gateway Fiber’s network construction is slated to begin this summer and continue throughout 2024 and into 2025, with the first customers getting connected this fall.
