UTOPIA Fiber has completed its fiber broadband build in Santa Clara, Utah.
As the fifth city UTOPIA Fiber has built out in 2023 and 19th overall, the $6.7 million build began in May 2022, signaling the provider’s expansion into southern Utah communities.
“Santa Clara represents our fifth successful city connection in 2023 and a key entry into the rapidly growing southern Utah fiber market,” said Roger Timmerman, Executive Director and CEO of UTOPIA Fiber.
The first homes were seamlessly connected to the lit fiber network on May 24, 2023, and the entire project, including 3,242 residential addresses, was completed on October 31, 2023.
Since 2009, the Santa Clara City project—like all other UTOPIA Fiber projects—has been funded and grown solely through subscriber revenue. The completion of this project further extends UTOPIA Fiber’s reach, providing residents with access to speeds up to 10 Gbps and 100 Gbps for businesses.
Rick Rosenberg, Mayor of Santa Clara City, said UTOPIA Fiber’s network will help it keep pace with new connectivity demands from residents and businesses. “As our region grows, the demand for speed and capacity has skyrocketed,” he said. “We needed a city-wide all-fiber network to ensure our community’s success now and in the future.”
Santa Clara is just one of several communities where UTOPIA Fiber is expanding its service footprint. Earlier this year, the provider announced it completed fiber builds in Pleasant Grove, Utah and Cedar Hills, Utah.
