Polarization-maintaining patchcords

These polarization-maintaining fiber patchcords provide termination for polarization-maintaining fibers with commercially available connectors such as AT&T`s ST and NTT`s FC. Using stress-free epoxies and specialized termination techniques, the patchcords achieve polarization extinction ratios of 25 dB. Better extinction ratios are available upon request. The patchcords can be used with 80- and 125-micron cladding diameters to achieve typical connector losses of 0.6 dB. Patchcords with keyed connectors can be prealigned for coupling efficiency and extinction ratio, then referenced against the connector key for repeatability. Patchcords that can handle light intensities of several watts are also available.
