FEBRUARY 12, 2007 -- Furukawa America Inc. (search for Furukawa America) and 3SAE Technologies Inc. (search for 3SAE) will partner to serve the fusion splicing needs of optical equipment manufacturers throughout the Americas.

This strategic alliance capitalizes on Furukawa's 35 years of experience in fusion splicer manufacturing and on 3SAE's specialization in advanced fiber-optic splicing systems and custom splicing offerings for the OEM photonics industry as well as military, government, aerospace, medical, and oil and gas applications.

Furukawa America's FITEL brand of fusion splicers and equipment now composes the core of 3SAE's fusion splicer equipment offerings, with special emphasis on customers who design, build, and mass produce optical systems and components and have high-volume factory fusion splicing requirements. 3SAE will provide factory-authorized fusion splicer service, equipment customization, and specialty splicing support at its facilities located in Franklin, TN.

"The FITEL name in fusion splicing is synonymous with high quality and high reliability," said Don Grasso, chief executive officer of 3SAE Technologies Inc. "Our customers demand this level of precision and repeatability given the sheer volume of their splicing activity or their mission-critical fiber optic applications within aerospace, armed services facilities and harsh environment applications."

"The Furukawa and 3SAE alliance brings even greater strength to the market, providing the robust performance of FITEL equipment to the unique and specialized customers 3SAE serves as well as traditional OEM accounts," added Jason Greene, fusion splicer product manager for Furukawa America Inc.
