June 1, 2006 Stonington, CT -- Hubbell Premise Wiring has unveiled the 2Click line of pre-polished fiber-optic connector products for singlemode and multimode LAN and backbone wiring applications. The new connectors eliminate the need for polishing and adhesives, taking the guesswork out of fiber-optic terminations in the field, say company representatives.

The 2Click product line includes SC- and ST-style connectors that incorporate a factory-installed pre-polished fiber "stub" inside. Connectors are available with singlemode and 62.5- or 50-micron core multimode optical fiber stubs. To assemble the connector, the installer simply strips and cleaves the fiber building cable, inserts the prepared fiber into the connector, and squeezes an integral wedge assembly to complete the job. This is all done in two minutes or less--with no special tools or expendables required, contends the company

For installers new to fiber termination Hubbell also is offering a new roll-up tool pouch with all the necessary fiber preparation tools for multimode 2Click connector applications. A separate ceramic blade cleaver for multimode fibers and a precision diamond cleave tool for singlemode fibers also are being offered for these connectors.

The 2Click connector system is fully field-tested and meets all the requirements of the TIA/EIA-568-B.3 industry specifications for performance and durability.
