NOVEMBER 1, 2006 -- LightPointe Communications Inc. (search for LightPointe Communications) today announced that it has drastically reduced the price of its Four-Beam, Gigabit Ethernet Optical Wireless System, which the company claims is a move designed to continue accelerating its international sales and maintain its leadership position in the optical wireless space.
The FlightStrata Gigabit system will be offered at a manufacturer's list price of $8,900 through November 30, 2006. This price represents a discount of more than 65% from the company's current list price, report company representatives, who say that the announcement hits right at the heart of the its primary competitors who manufacture and distribute similar products.
"The FlightStrata(TM) Gigabit system is our best-selling product right now," notes P. Alexander van Dillen, LightPointe's executive vice president of sales and business development. "This promotion is our way of accelerating our business into new markets and offering our current customers the opportunity to upgrade to our flagship product."
"In addition to the discount," adds Dr. Cathal OScolai, LightPointe's general manager, "the company will be offering its standard 12-month warranty coverage with an option to extend that coverage to 24-months."
Optical Wireless or Free Space Optics (search for free space optics) does not require a license by the Federal Communications Commission.
LightPointe now is marketing, selling, and distributing its optical wireless or Free Space Optics (FSO) products from its worldwide headquarters in San Diego, CA, following a brief period of reorganization earlier this year.
