Lumics a manufacturer of pump laser modules and laser chips, has finally come out of stealth mode and is now promote its first products. The company debuted its product line at the OFC 2002.
Lumics is a fibre-optic components company, based in Berlin, Germany, founded one year ago by three technologies from Berlin's Ferdinand-Braun Institute, experienced in the fields of optical semiconductor and vacuum technology.
Lumics specialised in pump lasers, currently 980nm pump laser diodes and pump laser modules in a standard 14-pin butterfly package (named LU980Mxxx) with a power output range from 80-250mW.
The next generation product will also feature smaller module footprints and coolerless versions as well as planar waveguide based pump modules and 13xxnm/14xxnm pump lasers for EDFA and TDFA devices.
Lumics offers a variety of chips on submount with extremely high output power and the utmost possible quality and reliability.
Lumics says that its selling point is to offer a higher reliability, kink-free power, thermal stability, and a narrower vertical far field.
