Scientific-Atlanta Shanghai Ltd., Hong Kong, is supplying a hybrid fiber/coaxial-cable (HFC) cable-TV network to Shanghai Petrochemical (SPC) and Shanghai TV Development General Corp. for the chemical complex and the community of Junshanwei, located southwest of Shanghai. Believed to be the first 750-MH¥two-way HFC network installed in the People`s Republic of China, the system is planned for more than 30,000 households. The first phase of the project is estimated at US$2.5 million; Scientific-Atlanta equipment accounts for approximately half the total. The site is also slated to become the first multimedia test site for Scientific-Atlanta in China.
