MAY 27, 2008 -- P&TLuxembourg, the leading fixed and mobile telephone operator in Luxembourg, has deployed ADVA Optical Networking's (search for ADVA Optical Networking) FSP 150 to offer intelligent Ethernet services to enterprise customers. Connecting major cities throughout the country, P&TLuxembourg's new network is built on a foundation of IP over fiber and uses the ADVA FSP 150 to deliver a range of intelligent Ethernet services.

"The ADVA FSP 150 plays a strategic role in this new enterprise network, delivering previously unattainable levels of service intelligence and end-to-end service management that are vital for meeting the exacting demands of our enterprise customers," reports Carlo Richartz, head of backbone deployment at P&TLuxembourg. "As we continue to roll out innovative next-generation business solutions, we require a last-mile technology that can scale to meet our demands and deliver a quality of service [QoS] that we and our customers expect. ADVA Optical Networking's market-leading FSP 150 platform provides the solution," he adds.

ADVA says its FSP 150, featuring Etherjack technology, provides P&TLuxembourg with intelligent demarcation, stringent monitoring of data from the network core to the customer premise, verification of strict Service Level Agreements (SLAs), and remote Operations, Administration and Maintenance (OAM). Designed to carry both Fast Ethernet (FE) and Gigabit Ethernet (GbE), the ADVA FSP 150 simplifies the management and transport of bandwidth-intensive broadband services throughout the network, enabling P&TLuxembourg to significantly reduce operational costs and rapidly respond to customer demands, say ADVA representatives.

"P&TLuxembourg is continually striving to offer its customers the most competitive network solutions available," notes Fabrice Jean, vice president, sales western Europe and Latin America for ADVA Optical Networking. "This new enterprise network is a further example of how P&TLuxembourg is using next-generation solutions to meet its customers' demands. By deploying the ADVA FSP 150 as its access technology, P&TLuxembourg will benefit from a highly intelligent, scalable, and flexible networking platform," Jean contends.

The ADVA FSP 150 is compliant with all standard Institute of Electronics and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) specifications, including the latest 802.3ah (Ethernet in the First Mile, EFM) and 802.1ag (Connectivity Fault Management, CFM) specifications. It features compliance with the new ITU-T Y.1731 standard for advanced Ethernet OAM, and has also been rigorously designed for Metro Ethernet Forum (MEF) compliance, ADVA confirms.
