APRIL 29, 2008 -- Bruce Telecom has selected Optelian's (search for Optelian) active, passive, and management devices for optical transport in its DWDM rings. Bruce Telecom says it is the first telephone company in Canada using MPEG-4 technology to deliver digital television.
The service providers is using Optelian's LightGAIN RGN-3GSF for DWDM voice and data OC-48 circuits and LightGAIN RGN-10GXT for 10-Gigabit Ethernet circuits supporting the transport and distribution of IPTV MPEG-4 signals.
According to Ron Howard, central office technician/lead hand, Brue Telecom selected the LightGAIN system for its "simplicity and ease of use."
Optelian's LightGAIN Optical Transport Systems provide regional, metro, and access transport. According to the company, the LightGAIN is being used by three of the largest telcos in North America, as well as Tier 2 and 3 companies, utility companies, enterprise networks, and cable MSOs.
