OCTOBER 20, 2008 -- Genexis (search for Genexis) today announced the availability of a Gigabit FTTH gateway with 10 times more bandwidth, say company representatives.
"This unit that can now be delivered to our customers and provides each user with a connection of 1000 Mbits/sec for triple-play services, including broadband Internet, HDTV, IPTV, telephony, and more," reports Gerlas van den Hoven, managing director of Genexis.
"We have developed this new model because network operators are continuously demanding higher bandwidth for their customers," he continues. "With this bandwidth, our customers can build super-fast and future-proof networks. Moreover, this new unit is fully compliant with industry standards, such as IEEE 1000Base-BX10 and 802.3ah, and is designed to be used in open access networks whereby multiple service providers deliver their services over a single fiber infrastructure," he says.
The new Gigabit version, as well as the company's existing 100-Mbit version, will be supplied with a new and modern housing. According to Genexis, both models offer a combination of multi-service broadband; simple but powerful network management; ease of installation; and the possibility to install the passive fiber network first and install the active part of the CPE at a later stage. They are also equipped with four active Ethernet ports that can be individually provisioned and managed and can be used for data, IPTV, HDTV, and VoIP. Optional are two analog voice ports as well as a CATV port. It is also possible to supply the units in a 'single fiber' version, whereby the analog TV signal is combined with the digital data signal over a single fiber. All versions, including the Gigabit version, are available for immediate shipping.
"This Gigabit version is a great extension of our product portfolio and offers, besides the higher bandwidth, also smart fiber management with modular active components," notes van den Hoven. "The introduction of this Gigabit model as well as our growing customer base that includes KPN, Reggefiber, and the City of Amsterdam, confirms our leading position in the FTTH market."
