3 June 2008 -- Bulgarian telecommunications operator Neterra Ltd. is launching an advanced fibre-optic transport network based on equipment from Nokia Siemens Networks (search for Nokia Siemens) to support the growing national and international data traffic requirements of its corporate customers.

The optical network, featuring DWDM technology, will support high transport speeds and capacity to allow Neterra to offer broadband Internet, Virtual Private Network (VPN), and data transport services to corporate customers and broadcast companies in Bulgaria. The project is to be completed by July 2008.

"We at Neterra are committed to serving our customers in the best possible way with reliable, advanced modern solutions and services. Faced with a rapidly growing international and regional traffic in data and multimedia since Bulgaria joined the European Union, we chose an efficient and upgradeable solution from Nokia Siemens Networks," said Neven Dilkov, managing director of Neterra.

Neterra provides fixed and satellite communications services to operators, major corporate customers, broadcasters, as well as Internet service providers.

Nokia Siemens Networks will also provide Neterra with a network management system for next generation optical networks (TMNS), as well as network implementation services.
