JANUARY 16, 2008 -- Belden (search for Belden), a developer of signal transmission products for wired and wireless enterprise networks and broadcast, industrial, residential, and building management/security markets, has announced that the FiberExpress Ultra patch panel system, designed to support the company's IBDN FiberExpress structured cabling solution, will be available in April.

With its ultrahigh density combined with user-friendly features, Belden says the patch panel system responds to the growing trend toward increased deployment of optical fiber cabling products that support higher transmission speeds in backbone infrastructures and data centers. The system is designed to be cost effective, highly reliable, and to deliver flexibility and ease of maintenance in various patching applications from the data center and telecom room to the high-speed links that transmit high quality voice, data, and video to users' desktops in locations such as offices, campuses, and factory facilities.

According to the company, the patch panel system is suitable for use anywhere that interconnections or splicing of optical fiber occurs. Ultrahigh density maximizes floor and rack space and provides scalability for future expansion, while protecting the optical fiber cables and connectors. Easy installation and maintenance reduces labor costs and provides quick, convenient access to system components to facilitate moves, adds, and changes without disrupting network operations.

The FiberExpress Ultra patch panel system integrates seamlessly with all FiberExpress cables, connectors, and management components, Belden says, and it supports LC, SC, ST-compatible, and other connector adapter modules, which can be mixed and matched within the panel. Secure locking and keyed options are available, as are wall-mount solutions for additional space savings in backbone interconnect installations.
