AUGUST 1, 2008 -- Aspen Optics (search for Aspen Optics) is launching a configuration tool for system integrators (SI) and Internet service providers (ISPs) to generate fiber network connections.
Aspen says the tool is capable of giving instant recommendations on how to connect fiber networks, which will speed up tasks that previously involved trial and error. Network quality and cost-effectiveness is ensured with the best options for connection being generated automatically, the company adds.
The tool, known as "Aspen Optical Ethernet Configurator," is now available on www.aspenoptics.com and is open to public usage. Users only need to choose the switch models they wish to connect and the distance between, the company explains. The configuration engine will automatically recommend the best options to connect based on customer input. The tool is designed to fully consider the specifications of specific hardware, compatibility, interoperability, transmission mode, and the distance to be connected. The tool will be an extremely valuable guide for multiple-vendor environments, Aspen says.
As an open platform, SIs, ISPs, and distributors can contact Aspen Optics if they wish to employ the configuration tool on their own websites.
