Telstra Corp. Ltd., Australia, has opened a new office in Hanoi, Vietnam, as part of its ongoing commitment to investing in Vietnam`s telecommunications infrastructure. Telstra, which has been active in Vietnam since the mid-1980s, has a 10-year business cooperation contract with Vietnam Posts and Telecommunications and has committed to invest US $197 million in Vietnam. The investment includes international satellite gateways, a digital microwave backbone, new telephone exchanges and Vietnam`s first fiber-optic submarine cable, to be opened later this year.
