Model 277 Flexmode asynchronous fiber-optic modem operates on fiber-optic cables with 50- to 100-micron core diameters. Its optical interface operates in point-to-point or ring configurations. The electrical interface is switch-selectable among RS-232, RS-422 and RS-485. Verification of operation is assisted via front-panel light-emitting diodes for local transmit data, fiber transmit data, receive data and collision. Packaged in a 5-ٳ.5-ٷ.3-inch standalone case, the modem costs $285.
