Agilent Technologies introduces fast-power meters to reduce test cost

June 12, 2001--Agilent Technologies Inc. introduced fast power meters for the Agilent Lightwave Measurement System that will substantially reduce the cost of test.

Agilent Technologies Inc. (NYSE: A) introduced fast power meters for the Agilent Lightwave Measurement System that will substantially reduce the cost of test. The power meters offer optical component manufacturers the ability to complete a wide range of manufacturing tests.

The benefits of the Agilent 81636B and 81637B Fast Power Meters include:

* long-term protection of investments and reduction of overhead costs;

* faster testing resulting in higher throughput in manufacturing; and

* excellent MUX/DeMUX testing, PDL critical devices and alignment, and

* adjustment optimization.

The 81636B and 81637B Fast Power Meters specifications include:

* 55 dB dynamic range per measurement range;

* extremely high accuracy;

* 100,000 data points;

* high-speed data transfer to the mainframe, which is important in swept measurement and manual and automated alignment;

* low PDL (+/-0.005 dB); and

* low Spectral Ripple.

The Agilent 81636B and 81637B power meters are expected to start shipping in August 2001. The price of the 81636B is $2,625 and the 81637B is $4,200.
