The LS5 is an integrated VPN solution that enables the SOHO (small office/home office), telecommuter and residential customers the ability to attain the security level of a dedicated private network while using the public Internet.
The LS5 combines three devices: VPN, firewall and management into one appliance to allow organizations to establish secure communications over a private or public IP network at a fraction of the leased-line cost. By combining the LS5 at the remote customer premise with an asita LineSpeed 100, GS or GS2 at the Enterprise's corporate headquarters or at the Service Provider's Point of Presence, businesses can provide remote, telecommuter and traveling employees with secure access to critical corporate resources by utilizing the Internet or other public network services as a wide area network backbone.
According to the company, the LS5 provides end-to-end security without compromising network performance. Network administrators use the LS5 to establish private communications within secure intranets for remote users and within extranets for customers, suppliers or strategic partners. The asita LineSpeed 5 uses 3DES-CBC, the strongest encryption available in the IPSec standard. It offers speeds up to 5 Mbps and is capable of handling up to 100 VPN tunnels, as well as other important security features such as IKE key management for secure key exchange and authentication using PAP, CHAP and MSCHAP authentication protocols.
