Sept. 27, 2001--SPIE is now accepting submissions for the Young Investigator Award, which is presented annually at Photonics West.

SPIE is now accepting submissions for the Young Investigator Award, which is presented annually at Photonics West. The award, given in memory of Heather Williamson Messenger, former Executive Editor of PennWell Publishing�s Laser Focus World, is for the best paper by a young researcher who has graduated within five years of the Photonics West conference. The award consists of a cash prize and publication of the winning paper in Laser Focus World.

To qualify for the award, the researcher must be the principal author. The researcher should indicate an interesting this award when submitting abstracts. For more details at this stage, send an email to Mirja Salminen at [email protected].

With submission of the final manuscript, the researcher should submit a letter nominating his or her paper for consideration, certifying that the qualifications for the award have been met. This letter must be accompanied by a photocopy of the researcher�s most recent diploma, along with five copies of the manuscript.
