Picolight claims improved optics alignment and greater yields through the use of Lambda VFM curing techniques. "The Rapid MicroCure system from Lambda", according to Picolight director of program management, Paul Streit, "enables us to accelerate our prototyping process at a faster rate than conventional heat methods."

VFM technology can also be used in ferrule attach, fiber array attach, and DWDM-to-fiber block assembly processing. Compared with convective heating which, according to Picolight, contributes to component misalignment and stress generation, VFM's volumetric heating cures adhesives uniformly and up to 10X faster, reducing part movement.
