Jan. 16, 2001
American Power Conversion (Nasdaq: APCC) and Cogent Communications, an Internet Service Provider (ISP), announced the selection of APC's AC uninterruptible power supplies (UPS) and DC Power Solutions to help ensure NonStop Networking in Cogent's all-optical end-to-end IP network.

American Power Conversion (Nasdaq: APCC) and Cogent Communications, an Internet Service Provider (ISP), announced the selection of APC's AC uninterruptible power supplies (UPS) and DC Power Solutions to help ensure NonStop Networking in Cogent's all-optical end-to-end IP network. APC's UPSs and DC Power Solutions serve an integral role in helping to maintain system availability for Cogent's hub sites and network nodes as well as the equipment located within the multi-tenant buildings throughout the network. Cogent's next generation network is designed to offer 100-times-faster access than a T-1 connection plus expanded bandwidth and reduction in overall network costs.

Cogent will be incorporating APC's DC Series MX06, a modular, rack-mountable DC power plant to power and protect Cisco internetworking gear throughout its network build-out. The 3U rack-mounted MX06 system offers power factor corrected rectifiers, flexible output distribution and easy installation. APC's award-winning Smart-UPS(R) will help ensure availability for connectivity and internetworking equipment located within the multi-tenant commercial properties currently being installed in major cities including New York City, Chicago, Philadelphia, and Washington, D.C. Additionally, Cogent will utilize APC's Web/SNMP Management Card to enhance network management with APC's Smart-UPS units.
