Moritex Europe announces availability of a range of high performance v-groove components and fully manufactured fiber arrays.
Produced using a highly accurate grinding process, Moritex Europe Ltd. (Cambridge, UK) has obtained deep grooves relative to those made by the traditional chemical etching methods used in the manufacture of silicon v-groove devices.
The highly accurate tolerances derived from the manufacturing process means that the devices maintain an even fiber height and pitch essential for low loss connections and even performance. With pitch tolerances typically better than +/- 0.3 micron, Moritex v-grooves and fiber arrays are set to play a key role in the alignment of single and multimode optical fibers within optical modules.
Both v-grooves components and fiber arrays (perpendicular flat or angled) can be supplied to meet demanding customer specifications. Devices can be made in virtually any size, and can have from one to hundreds of grooves. The most common include 1,2,4,8,16, and 32 grooves.
The proprietary Moritex process can be applied to a varietry of substrates, including glass, ceramic, and quartz. Components using quartz substrates have the advantage of allowing fixings using ultraviolet curing resins to provide the highest reliability.
