Fiber Systems International unveils new optical loss test set

18 June 2003 Allen, TX Lightwave -- Fiber Systems International recently introduced its new Model 1300 Optical Loss Test Set for TFOCA (Tactical Optic Fiber Connector Assembly), TFOCA-II, MIL-C-28876, and standard hermaphroditic fiber-optic connectors.

The new integrated test set is specifically designed to address the test and verification of multi-fiber cable assemblies. This advanced, fully functional test set includes two optical sources and two power meters in a single unit with a integral interface connector.

The basic Model 1300 Optical Loss Test Set Kit includes:
• Model 1300 Optical Loss Test Set
• Loopback plug
• AC power adapter/recharger
• Four interchangeable AC adapter plugs
• Ruggedized, foam-filled case
• Option 1: Cleaning kit with 50 optic cleaning pads, 50 swabs, and foam cleaning fluid
• Option 2: Breakout Cable and fault finder (Plug to ST, SC or FC breakout cable).

The light source/power meter is housed in a rugged handheld enclosure with a rubber holster and operates on four rechargeable 1.5-V AA batteries.

A 90-264 V, 47-63 Hz AC adapter with four interchangeable international-standard plugs (US, Europe, UK, and Australia) is also provided.

An LCD graphic display shows loss through the entire cable assembly. The system takes the guesswork out of insertion loss testing for fiber-optic connectors in use today by both military and commercial applications, say company representatives.

Initial sales and deliveries of the Model 1300 Optical Loss Test Set have already been made. The retail list price for the base test set unit with carrying case is $3,750.
The Model 1300 Optical Loss Test Set also includes an optional Cleaning kit with 50 optic cleaning pads, 50 swabs, and foam cleaning fluid.
