Frontier GlobalCenter (Sunnyvale, CA), the data and Internet arm of Frontier Corp. (Rochester, NY), announced plans to deploy Internet protocol (IP) over a nationwide OC-48c (2.4-Gbit/sec) network. Built as a segment within the Frontier Optronics network, the OC-48c IP network layer is expected to move data at 2.56 Gbits/sec on a single fiber strand. Completion of the new segment is planned for the fourth quarter of 1998.
