Tyco Submarine Systems Ltd., Morristown, NJ, Kanematsu Corp., Tokyo, and kdd-Submarine Cable

Tyco Submarine Systems Ltd., Morristown, NJ, Kanematsu Corp., Tokyo, and kdd-Submarine Cable Systems, Tokyo, put the ink on a supply contract for the Guam-Philippines Cable System with Guam-Philippines Cable Limited Partnership. The 3600-km undersea cable system is a 2-fiber pair system with an initial capacity of 5 Gbits/sec between Guam and the Philippines. The system will land at at&t Corp.`s Tanguisson, Guam, cable station and at the Philippines Long Distance Co.`s cable station in Nasugbu, Batangas, the Philippines. The network, which can be upgraded to 20 Gbits/sec, is expected to be in service by the end of March 1999. Optical, administration, and maintenance agreements, along with capacity sales agreements between the Guam-Philippines Cable Limited Partnership and more than 20 telecommunications administrations, are also in place.
