Tyco Electronics today announced the release of its new Multimode LC Connector Plug Kits, available in both simplex and duplex, for 900-micron buffered cable and 1.6-2.0 mm, 2.4 mm, and 3.0 mm jacketed cable.

"We have improved the original design of the LC connector by increasing the body strength to improve the side load characteristics," explains Craig Kegerise, product manager with Tyco Electronics' Fiber-optics Business Unit. "We also added a knurled crimp body for better cable retention and a widened thumb latch to make it easier to unplug. This unique design utilizes one connector body style for both simplex and duplex applications. Duplexing is accomplished with a field installable clip that allows polarization corrections, as well as the ability to turn simplex assemblies into duplex assemblies," he adds.
