6 September 2002 -- Norway-based service provider Telenor Business Solutions has selected Level 3 Communications to provide private line services in London, Amsterdam and Frankfurt.
Telenor, a subsidiary of the Norwegian PTT, will use the Level 3 network to connect its main IP backbone sites in Europe to the major Internet exchanges across the three markets. The company already uses Level 3's network in the United States.
Telenor Business Solutions employs 4,800 people in 10 countries, serving customers across borders with voice and data communications, advanced networks solutions, and managed IT services.
Brady Rafuse, president for Level 3 in Europe said, "Level 3 aims to provide companies requiring wholesale bandwidth with low cost, high capacity network services, which they can confidently use as a foundation for their own business. We hope to continue developing our relationship with Telenor into the future."
Level 3 turned up the Telenor circuits using ONTAP, Level 3's proprietary online customer network management and service provisioning system. ONTAP enables delivery of wavelength and private line services when customers require them, rather than in the weeks or months that it typically takes to deliver transport services. ONTAP also enables customers to check Level 3's capacity inventory and prices, plan and order circuits, and manage their network via a Web-based interface.
