Frontier Corp., Rochester, NY, has selected nec America`s Sonet Transport Systems as a supplier for the nationwide fiber-optic long-distance transmission network it is building in partnership with Qwest Communications, Denver, CO. nec America will provide Synchronous Optical Network transport and SpectralWave Narrowband Wave Division Multiplexing electronics, including the its-2400V Intelligent Transport System. Frontier expects the multiring network will interconnect nearly 100 cities from coast to coast via 13,000 route-miles of fiber by the time it is completed in mid-1998.
