Fiber connector/disconnector

A reusable device joins two large-core multimode fibers or two singlemode fibers without special tools, fixtures, or adhesives. Typical pull strength is 4.4 lbs for large-core fibers and 1.0 lb for singlemode fibers. Typical attenuation when joining two 200/230-micron tecs hard-clad fibers is 0.4 dB, which decreases to 0.1 dB when index-matching gel is used.
