YOFC to defend against OFS patent infringement allegations

June 17, 2005 Wuhan, China -- Yangtze Optical Fibre and Cable (YOFC) says it intends to vigorously defend its reputation against a complaint recently filed by OFS, alleging that YOFC has infringed several U.S. patents.

June 17, 2005 Wuhan, China -- In a press release, Yangtze Optical Fibre and Cable (YOFC) says it has learned that Furukawa Electric North America (Furukawa) and its subsidiary OFS Fitel LLC (OFS) recently filed a complaint against YOFC in the United States District Court for the District of Massachusetts.

In the complaint, OFS alleges that YOFC has infringed several U.S. patents. YOFC says that it invests heavily in research and development, has its own extensive intellectual property portfolio, and has great respect for the sanctity of the intellectual property rights of others. Accordingly, YOFC says it intends to vigorously defend its reputation against lawsuit.
