March 24, 2005 Holmdel, NJ -- VPIsystems announced today that it has received multiple orders from Bell Canada for network resource planning and engineering software, plus additional enhancements. According to a press release, the carrier will be using the software to optimize capacity utilization on its existing network, and for optimizing designs of new ring and mesh networks.

The company's software includes its VPItransportMaker, which models backbone ring and mesh networks, and how traffic moves across these networks. According to the company, carriers using this software can extract more usable capacity out of existing networks, as the software enables more efficient traffic allocation, thereby freeing up network capacity. Similarly, according to the company, the software enables more efficient design of new network capacity.

According to the release, the software optimization will enable the carrier to minimize the amount of new equipment necessary to deliver its capacity, for significant opex and capex savings.

"We are pleased Bell Canada selected VPIsystems to supply this software for one of their most important business processes," remarks John Holobinko, president and CEO of VPIsystems.
