March 30, 2005 Pittsburgh, PA -- Laurel Networks and Telindus announced today that they have delivered a platform that will enable ntl to provide Ethernet and IP VPN services to its UK business customers. The platform, comprised of Laurel's ST200 and ST50 broadband services routing products and its Laurel Provisioning System (LPS), was delivered and implemented by Telindus, a provider of global network services.

According to a press release, the already operational platform allows ntl to offer a range of VPN services linking disparate office locations of all sizes over a single, advanced broadband network, while also enabling the delivery of low latency Ethernet connectivity to both business and carrier customers. Laurel's ST-series routers support a range of advanced data services over multiple access networks, including VPN, broadband, Internet, switched services, VoIP, and video. Further, the company says its LPS tool enables point-and-click provisioning, while establishing a platform for future Web-enabled services.

Before the selection of Laurel, Telindus provided ntl with independent laboratory facilities to test a variety of vendors' technologies. Telindus subsequently managed the platform's installation and commissioning, in addition to providing on-going support services.

"ntl selected the Laurel ST-series router because it generally exhibited better carrier-class characteristics than the other equipment under test," explains Derek Cobb, director of network architecture at ntl. "It proved to be extremely stable during the evaluation process."

According to Laurel, the router's key benefits include sophisticated QoS and traffic shaping functionality, as well as demonstrated 100% throughput on Gigabit Ethernet interfaces, even for small VoIP packets.

"Laurel Networks' ability to support any service, on any port, at any speed gives ntl rapid and flexible provisioning of enhanced IP services," concludes Gordon Wardrop, client director at Telindus. "It provides ntl with a real strategic advantage in a highly competitive market."
