March 24, 2005 New York, NY and London, UK -- Telehouse America, a provider of carrier-neutral co-location space and services, has announced a cooperative agreement with FLAG Telecom (FLAG) to enable direct connectivity for FLAG's global fiber routes to Telehouse locations using the Los Angeles International Internet Exchange (LAIIX) and the New York International Internet Exchange (NYIIX).
"The agreement enhances our extensive data center and Internet exchange infrastructure and expands the accessibility of markets for our customers, at a time when the amount of online business transactions shows steady annual growth," asserts Masahiro Furuya, president and CEO of Telehouse America.
According to a press release, the agreement will give Telehouse's IX members and other clients the full benefit of FLAG's global customer base of carriers and operators, which offer networking products including bandwidth, IP Transit, Ethernet, IP-VPN, as well as co-location services. Telehouse, by way of its carrier-neutral data centers, offers international Internet exchanges in Los Angeles and New York City, along with co-location, business continuity, and operational products. According to the release, full connectivity to NYIIX and LAIIX will enable FLAG to offer direct peering at these sites for their global clients, as well as to improve IP connectivity for their transit customers.
The agreement gives FLAG the ability to offer international peering from more than 14 countries to NYIIX and LAIIX, in order to support global carriers' demand for expanding international IP networks from their home countries into the U.S. Telehouse says its customers will benefit from FLAG's presence in sales territories across North America and Europe, as well as the Middle East, Africa, and Asia.
"FLAG owns and manages a unique fiber-optic and MPLS/IP network, with access nodes in major cities across four continents," explains Chris Wood, VP of marketing for FLAG Telecom. "Our agreement with Telehouse provides additional direct connectivity into NYIIX and LAIIX, two of the world's largest IXs, and enables FLAG to deliver customer traffic direct between these key exchanges and any point on our network, including major PoPs in the Middle East, Europe, and Asia."
