The DZS Saber RDM-4400 (RDM-4400) is a Reconfigurable Optical Add-Drop Multiplexer (ROADM) used in optical ring or mesh optical transport topologies.

The DZS Saber RDM-4400 (RDM-4400) is a Reconfigurable Optical Add-Drop Multiplexer (ROADM) used in optical ring or mesh optical transport topologies. Because of its compact form factor, the ROADM can be placed in small areas such as cabinets and other non-traditional locations, giving service providers more deployment flexibility. The RDM-4400 can also scale up to 8 degrees in 4 rack units (RU) with full CDC (Colorless, Directionless, Contentionless) Flex-grid (flexible grid spacing) capability. Built with the middle mile and network edge in mind, the RDM-4400 is also environmentally hardened, which allows customers to deploy the solution in environments that do not require temperature control. As an environmentally hardened device, DZS claims the RDM-4400 enables service providers to achieve up to $200,000 in cost savings per node in their networks.

Judge’s Comment: “The DZS Saber RDM-4400 is a ROADM well-suited to its target environment, the Middle Mile and Network Edge.”
