Infraeo Inc.: 400G QSFP-DD SR4 Multimode Transceiver

Feb. 21, 2024
Rating: 3.5

Infraeo’s low-power 400G QSFP-DD SR4 optical transceiver enables the AI clusters to adopt H100 GPU and Bluefield DPU accelerators with the 50G PAM4-based 400G ethernet networking. By converting the 8x50G PAM4 into a 4x100G PAM4 through a DSP, the QSFP-DD SR4 may be directly connected to 4x100G OSFP SR4 or 4x100G QSFP112 SR4, or combinations of any 100G PAM4 interfaces through the parallel multimode fiber breakout cables. With the QSFP-DD SR4, AI cluster infrastructure users may reuse their existing 400G networking infrastructure or take advantage of the matured 400G network technologies to build up new AI clusters without performance compromise at a better cost. The 400G QSFP-DD SR4 offers low power consumption at a nominal 6.0W and a maximum of 6.5W at 70 degrees Celsius in operation. The 400G QSFP-DD SR4 supports a maximum reach of 100m over OM4 multimode fiber connectivity.

Judge’s Comment: “AI's wave can crush demand on the optical networks that enable them. The 400G QSFP-DD SR4 Multimode Transceiver is part of the solution, and an economical one at that.”
