Coherent Corp: 800G Coherent Pluggable DCO Module in QSFP DD Form Factor

Feb. 21, 2024
Coherent’s 800G QSFP-DD digital coherent optical (DCO) transceiver is a small pluggable module plugged directly into routers and switches for IP-over-DWDM architectures for data center interconnect metro and regional network applications.

Coherent’s 800G QSFP-DD digital coherent optical (DCO) transceiver is a small pluggable module plugged directly into routers and switches for IP-over-DWDM architectures for data center interconnect metro and regional network applications. With the high transmitter optical output power of 0 dBm, the transceiver can be used directly in metro and regional networks with ROADMs. The transceiver can support up to 1000 km of fiber reach at an 800G line rate. It complies with the forthcoming OIF 800ZR and OpenZR+ 800G implementation agreements. It supports multiple operating modes for line rates at 800G, 600G, and 400G, along with several client/host interfaces. Its small size and low power dissipation are enabled by Coherent’s 140 Gbaud IC-TROSA coherent optical engine that contains all the critical building blocks: wavelength-tunable laser, optical amplifiers, modulators, drivers, coherent mixer, photodiode array, and transimpedance amplifiers.

Judge’s Comment: “Coherent’s 800G QSFP-DD digital coherent optical (DCO) transceiver addresses the growing trend to consolidate network functions.”
