Lumentum: TrueFlex® 16x26 Contentionless Wavelength Selective Switch

Feb. 21, 2024
Rating: 4.5

Building on the success of Lumentum's 8x26 WSS solution, the 16x26 contentionless Wavelength Selective Switch (WSS) leverages further innovations in switching technologies and manufacturing automation to deliver the same performance and form factor as its predecessor but is now optimized for even larger 16-degree nodes. Lumentum's 16x26 Contentionless WSS for add/drop applications, complementing the existing 8x26, supports scalable CDC network nodes with up to 16 degrees, enabling multiple fiber pairs per route and increasing the amplified bandwidth between network nodes. Lumentum's MxN WSS portfolio also supports high add/drop capacity and features low insertion loss and inherent channel filtering, enabling high performance in backbone ROADM applications. Reliability qualification of the Contentionless 16x26 WSS is underway. Lumentum has shipped beta-grade samples to lead customers from its production facility in Navanakorn, Thailand; both C-band and L-band variants will be concurrently released for mass production.

Judge’s Comment: “Lumentum is the first-to-market 16x26 contentionless WSS from C&L bands.”
