Coherent’s WaveShaper 4000B / O-band enables prototyping DWDM O-band ROADMs and optical nodes over 16.5 THz spectrum (165 x 100 GHz channels).

Coherent’s WaveShaper 4000B / O-band enables prototyping DWDM O-band ROADMs and optical nodes over 16.5 THz spectrum (165 x 100 GHz channels). This opens the possibility of O-band overlays on existing networks. The O-band is wider than the C and L bands combined, allowing a leap in carrying capacity on existing fibers. Also, O-band coherent transmission promises better energy efficiency for Data Center Interconnect (DCI) links and Metro networks.  In addition, the WaveShaper 4000B / O-band supports development and production testing in CWDM and LR4 / LR8 applications. The WWaveShaper 4000 / O-band” is a 1x4 WaveShaper with full programable wavelength-dependent amplitude and phase/dispersion control. It offers an operating range from 1264 nm to 1358 nm. WaveShaper’s HTML-based software interface allows direct control over the spectral attenuation and phase via a web-based GUI interface and easy automation using any control language that can send HTML commands.

Judge’s Comment: “This product will see increasing importance in two areas: expanding traditional WDM transport into O-band for additional capacity and design and testing of multi-wavelength short-reach interconnects in O-band.”
