Point2 Technology’s P3A280 25G Electrical Dispersion Compensation (EDC) Mixed-Signal SoC integrates a single-channel transceiver with a proprietary electronic dispersion compensation (EDC) engine that includes an intelligent clock and data recovery (CDR)/retimer to compensate for long-distance data transmission over fiber and chromatic dispersion up to 40 km. The P3A280 EDC SoC enables a long reach paired with efficient energy consumption, supporting a 40 km span while helping SFP module operations at less than 2.5W. By increasing the range of existing fiber transmission paths, the P3A280 EDC SoC, Point2 claims it can reduce total cost of ownership (TCO) by up to 40 percent for 5G wireless and cable access network fiber infrastructure upgrades. The P3A280 EDC SoC is ideal for SFP28 fiber optic transceiver modules used in long-distance 5G mobile fronthaul and backhaul networks, last-mile FTTx broadband access, DWDM Ethernet switch interconnects and SFP28 optical modules.

Judge’s Comment: “For providers upgrading from 10G to 25G in a 5G network, this product is simple and hot-pluggable.”
