Interlink Telecom Public Company (ITEL), a Thai network services provider, has adopted Ribbon Communications’ Apollo optical networking platform for its data center interconnect (DCI) solution.
Data center interconnect (DCI) technology links two or more data centers to share resources. Service providers like ITEL have various options for DCI.
There are several security and quality benefits to DCI. DCI links can provide more detailed traffic encryption to make information sharing more secure. It also enables companies to apply quality of service (QoS) and other policies to ensure performance.
The provider’s solution leverages the Apollo 9901X access OTN switch to map multiple data center services onto high-speed DCI links under software control. Instead of requiring carriers to map multiple-colored interfaces onto a ring using muxponders, each requiring engineering, the 9901X OTN supports all services on a single 100G wavelength.
Ribbon’s 9901X works with Apollo metro and core OTN switches under a common management interface to maximize the OTN switching benefits of rapid provisioning, wavelength grooming, and automated restoration throughout the optical network.
“Ribbon’s speedy delivery enabled us to successfully deploy our service on time. We’re confident that we can rely on Ribbon for critical and urgent projects that are core to our offering,” said Nuttanai Anuntarumporn, CEO of ITEL. “Ribbon exceeded our expectations and paved the way for new-normal, tight timeframe projects.”
