Iskratel offers CORD-compliant option for SI3000 Lumia G16 GPON OLT
Iskratel is using this week’s SDN NFV World Congress 2018 to unveil what it is calling an “amphibian” version of its SI3000 Lumia G16 GPON Optical Line Terminal (OLT). The new version can operate as a traditional integrated OLT or in a disaggregated white-box form based on virtual OLT Hardware Abstraction (vOLTHA) principles as used in Residential Central Office Re-architected as a Datacenter (R-CORD).
In the latter mode, the Lumia G16 operates as a fully virtualized, CORD-compliant physical OLT with virtual OLT software running in the cloud via a software upgrade, says Iskratel. The dual nature of the OLT eliminates the need for hardware changes when virtualizing the central office, easing cloud evolution activities, the company asserts.
Isktratel also will debut an upgraded version of its Cloud-Services Platform (CSP) at the show. The enhancements add centralized identity management and edge computing capabilities, which the company says will improve multi-cloud orchestration and management at core and edge data center locations. The new capabilities will help network operators improve quality of service, automate security policies via a distributed cloud, and enable zero-touch provisioning of new services, according to the company.
