March 1, 2006 Livermore, CA -- Alloptic, Inc., a provider of Gigabit Ethernet passive optical networks (GEPONs), announced plans to create a wholly owned, Hong Kong-based subsidiary, Alloptic Ltd., in order to focus on the Asia Pacific region's rapidly growing demand for GEPON access network connectivity.
"Due to the broad market acceptance of GEPON in Asia, Alloptic has been very successful in the region," remarks Ric Johnson, president and CEO of Alloptic. "What we've seen in China and Korea is the desire to deploy a world-class infrastructure that will ensure their competitiveness in the global economy."
The company says its Hong Kong office will initially be staffed with sales and marketing people and system engineers.
"The competitive advantage of GEPON is that it leverages the two most widely accepted technologies for providing communications services fiber-optics and Ethernet - with superior performance and longevity over existing technologies," concludes Johnson. "With the opening of Alloptic Ltd., we will be able to expand our presence and better serve the fastest growing region in the world."
