Aurora Networks, Inc. unveiled a new optical line terminal (OLT) blade for its Trident7 PON platform last week at SCTE Cable-Tec in Orlando, FL. The new blade offers twice the port density of previous Trident7 OLT blades.

The company, which focuses on the cable MSO market, acquired the Trident7 product line last year from Enablence Technologies (see “Aurora Networks buys Trident7 PON line from Enablence Technologies”). Aurora Networks positions the new model T7-PIM-8802 OLT blade as enhancing the Trident7’s ability to support delivery of commercial services. The new blade has eight ports; with up to 18 blades in a chassis and assuming a 1x32 split, a single Trident7 chassis can now support more than 4,600 ONTs.

“Aurora Networks has long recognized the revenue opportunities found within the commercial services market and has developed solutions that enable cable operators to evolve their networks to capitalize on them,” said John Dahlquist, vice president of marketing, Aurora Networks. “We create solutions that enable operators to roll-out services faster and at a much lower cost.”
