DASAN Networks USA, a wholly owned subsidiary of South Korea’s DASAN Networks International, says it has supplied Benton Ridge Telephone with GPON fiber to the home (FTTH) equipment along as well as Ethernet switches.
The systems supplier says it unseated Benton Ridge Telephone’s previous access network equipment supplier, whose offering lacked “key functionality,” DASAN asserts. DASAN’s ability to offer GPON on a Layer 3 switching platform, both indoor and outdoor ONTs for residential customers, and Layer 2 Ethernet switches with GPON interfaces to serve business customers was important in its success, the company says.
Specifically, DASAN has supplied its V5812 mini-OLTs, V5848 medium density OLTs, and V8240 high capacity OLTs for the GPON FTTP network. DASAN’s H690 outdoor residential ONTs and indoor H640 ONTs are used to provide voice, data, and IPTV to residential subscribers, while DASAN’s V2824 and V2524G Fast Ethernet and Gigabit Layer 2 Ethernet switches with GPON are used to deliver enterprise-class business services.
Benton Ridge Telephone, operating as an ILEC in northwest Ohio and a CLEC in Lima and Portland, Indiana, has been in business since 1902. It offers residential triple play services including IPTV and is a full service ISP, as well as operating a cable company and security services subsidiary.
“We (Benton Ridge Telephone) are the primary service provider to our market and our customers depend on us to serve all their needs,” says Mark Miller, CFO of Benton Ridge. “DASAN provides us the right products for all our residential and business needs, and their support is excellent.”
