FEBRUARY 27, 2008 -- ECI Telecom (search for ECI Telecom) has been chosen by French "carrier of carriers" Tutor to deploy an end-to-end next-generation system of products to support the city of Nancy in the roll-out of an advanced fiber-to-the-building (FTTB) network, one of the first in the country.
ECI's product portfolio will provide enterprises located in and near Nancy with advanced broadband and telecommunications services. The company will deploy the XDM-1000 and 2000 WDM systems, the ST-50 for broadband aggregation, and the Hi-FOCuS multiservice access node for GPON.
"With the development of FTTH, municipalities all across Europe are interested in helping those roll-outs by investing in telecom infrastructure and offering their residents state-of-the-art capabilities," says Roland Montagne, head of broadband practice at IDATE. "We expect that FTTX subscribers will represent around 27% of western Europe's total broadband base by 2015, and municipalities should play an important role in those future deployments."
