DECEMBER 11, 2008 -- Alphion Corp. (search for Alphion) says it has received the Technical Specification Evaluation Certificate (TSEC) for its GPON access equipment.

TSEC is a certification process carried out by the quality assurance (QA) organization of Indian carrier Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd. (BSNL). The process is designed to validate that a vendor's equipment conforms to all of the technical specifications and requirements specified by Telecom Engineering Center's Generic Requirements (GR) and ensures that the products meet the highest quality standards. TSEC certification also requires compliances to environmental standards such as QM333, QM301, QM303, CE, EMI/EMC, IP55, NEBS, UL, etc.

TSEC certification is a requirement for deploying GPON products in BSNL and Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Ltd. (MTNL) networks in India.

"Alphion is the first telecommunications equipment manufacturer to successfully complete TSEC certification of GPON-ased access equipment," commented Dr. Bijoy K. Mishra, Alphion Vice President of Sales. "This is a major milestone for Alphion. It is a testament of quality and reliability of Alphion GPON products and positions Alphion to be a leading supplier of GPON access solutions in the Indian Telecom Networks."

The Alphion GPON product family consists of an optical line terminal, optical network terminals, and passive optical splitters.
